This will be the scene I see Monday morning - empty halls of a high school with rows of empty blue lockers lining those hallways - and lots of hard and tedious work to be done in the office to prepare for the opening of another school year.
Yep, my 5 weeks of summer break are over already. I just can't believe how fast it flew by this year! I didn't get 1/10 of what I had planned done, never had a chance to get away, not even for a couple days.
One nice thing, I return to work tomorrow but then have a 3 day weekend before really getting down to business and 10 hour work days next week. I think it's really silly the way they have us scheduled, but then again it really is a nice way to ease back into the swing of things. Tomorrow will be more of a social catch up day between office staff more than anything else and then a long weekend - but still! I don't wanna! ::stomping feet and ready to throw a tantrum::
To top it off I just looked outside to witness a beautiful sun shower. The rain is coming down, yet the sun is shining bright. I knew there would be a rainbow. I ran out with my camera and there it was, a big beautiful rainbow and then to top it off was the melodic sounds of the Wednesday night drum circle echoing from the beach - beautiful, perfect moment in time - if it wasn't a work night. It was one of those moments where I definitely would have called hubby and the kids to jump in the car and head to the beach for the drum circle and sunset, but no - its a work night, no time for simple pleasures. Ack!
Anyway, this is my whiny entry for the Midweek Blues - now adding a link to Carly's Monday Photo Shoot more than a week later - I've made it through the first week back to work already and all is well :-)
I'm officially back to being a weekend blogger. Be sure to come over every Friday night for my blog party! See ya!

Awwww...too bad you have to go back to work. I can't believe you only had 5 weeks, they rob you of a whole month before the kids come back don't they!!! Well at least you have a long weekend. Have a good day tomorrow anyway.
xxx
Oh I remember those years of working for a school. I worked the summer school and camp as well so I only had ~maybe~ 2 weeks off over the summer. Really stunk to be honest because the school never ran the AC in the summer so the upstairs was always super HOT (I was in Louisiana at the time...).
I am so not ready for summer to be over... but yours at least starts earlier than ours. Good luck going back!
And oh those summer sun showers. I love 'em! Take those peaceful moments and milk them for all they're worth!
I always feel for you all. The last day of my shared summer route ( I only worked two half days a week) ends tomorrow. Then we have 2 training days mid August. I have nearly a month left of freedom, at least from bus driving. I still have the kids, the grandkids and Mrs H. and of course the hubby!! Sometimes I think it's easier to work! oh and we are buying tickets to fly to St Pete on March 21, 2010 very soon...so circle your calendar, March will be here before you know it!! xo
Where's the picture of the rainbow???!!!
O!!! I'd be whining too especially with the rain, sunset and drums in the background. sound wonderful except having 2 go back 2 work. will look for you on the weekends! we still doing Color Carnival?
I was looking for that rainbow photo! keeping it for next Color Carnival? :p
(((Martha))) why 10 hour days?? Is it a 4-day work week or are you working 50 hour weeks? Ridiculous!!
I'm so sorry that its over; Koda had a great time. He talked nonstop about you and your family when I picked him up from the airport. (and I don't know if you know this, but he smuggled a brew in his luggage........he said something about participating in your party come Friday night, we'll see.....)
you know my dear friend from Montana, her mom is the principal's secretary for one of the high schools up there; she takes off the month of July and then she's back on duty. She and one of her friends, before school starts, go and pray over each of the classrooms (this is a public school, obviously they don't pray when kids are there). I think that is soooo neat.
I know you are a good secretary and a very caring person; they are soooooooo lucky to have you there on board, taking care of all the students and the teachers, etc.
you whine all you want; it did go by too fast!
betty
Wow! Schools here are no longer allowed to have lockers for security reasons. Instead we are going to have an entire generations of students with bad backs from toting backpacks containing every book issued plus all other sundries every min. of the day from leaving to returning home.
My grandson among them.
I also find it hard to believe that staff only have a five week summer. How sad and disappointing for all of you.
School here starts earlier each year. Soon it will be year round. I counted it up and students here only have nine weeks for summer vacation this year.
already?! crikey....
*cries* I loved that drum circle.
Sad that the holiday is over but you have to work to appreciate the holidays x
What a awesome photo capturing bith the emptiness and anticipation of another school year. I hope you enjoyed your break. We never seem to get everything done that we thought we would, do we?
Thanks for posting at MWB's sorry for your confusion. I had intended a Wed meme but got ahead of myself this week! I should have put it on autopost!
I love sun showers! Back to work already?! That pretty much bites! I think the summer has flown by!
You work in the schools too? Are you a teacher? Administrator? Support? SO COOL! I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist... but I work on the opposite end of the school continuum... pre-school! I also do all bilingual (Spanish-English ) evaluations for our district! :) I knew there was yet another reason I liked you!
Wow. And its not even August yet.
Got to love that Kola-balt blue though!
10 hr days sounds about right if you're on a salary. The 10 hour days arent so bad then because you're paid during the vacation times too. Yes, iggy, alot of the schools in the south start mid August but they let out in early May because the temps are unbearable in the summer and the cost of running the AC is ridiculous! In the contract I had (and it was a pittance at best...less than $9000 a year), I was responsible for working the before care (basically babysitting those that had to be dropped off before the "free" time) and also worked after care (after school let out @3pm until the parents showed up to pick them up or until 6pm)so I was there from 6am until 6pm 5 days a week.
Hi, Martha, i was a school teacher too.You reminded me of my teaching days...cheer up!
Oh, darn, the drum circle and sunset sounded really fun.
And here I am retired from Chrysler since age 54 and it seems more like a full time job... lol Thanks for the comment on: TOM'S JOURNAL.

Just enjoy the rain and the bow. May your sun keeps shining and the rain brings the bow.
Time to return to work already! Is summer vacation really over in Florida?
Sorry the break ended to soon and you didn't get all you wanted completed.
Hey Cutie
Well done! As always you knock me out with your photography! I am now hearing that wonderful old standard... "Am I Blue?" LOL.
Always good to see you've been by to say HI!
-:)
Carly
It would seem to me that you have got the 'Blues' well and truly locked up!
Nicely done EMPS -- I can see your connection with the Blues for it. I always enjoy what you post.
The summer really is going fast this year! I can see why you're feeling BLUE, Hope you'll be in the PINK soon though.
