It's combo time again

I really don't like doing combos, but unfortunately my weekend is almost over and it's going to be a very busy week ahead. Of course I don't want to miss out on any of the photo fun!

This is my photo for (ready for all of these?) - Today's Flowers, Lisa's Macro Monday (even though I can only manage close ups and still whining about wanting a macro lens), True Colors Thursday - the theme is purple for this week, and I still can't decide if my photo really has any purple or not. Last but not least Blogger's Community Photo Challenge where the theme this time around is flowers.

Now I just have to remember to link them up as they post. Come on, join me in my photo meme addiction!

Have a great week!

Mellow Yellow

My photo for this week is a little store sign for a shop in our historic downtown area. I just thought it was cute.
.
Mellow Yellow Monday is up and ready for us all to play!

Odd shots

Ooogah boogah!

Kind of creepy isn't it? This is a "tree man" in the kiddie room at the botanical gardens. Hmmm, I suspect they don't really want the kids hanging around in there! What do you think?

Go over to Katney's Kaboodle if you have an odd shot to share.

Scenic Sunday already!

This week's Scenic Sunday is already up and ready for us to play!

Camera Critters

My son and little Queen Bella - awwww!
Head over to Camera Critters to play along :-)

PhotoHunt - Books

One of my cookbook shelves - go to PhotoHunt to play along! :-)

My issues have issues

I've been having major issues with my computer lately. It seems once I get one thing working right something else starts happening!

First I had the problem of multiple blank windows opening when I'd access some blogs. The only way to stop it was to shut down. I updated my Internet Explorer which solved that problem, but now every time I try to access a blog from my comments or from my blog list I keep getting an error message "Internet Explorer cannot access... operation aborted," and then it shuts down the blog I'm trying to view!

It seems to be getting worse. I know others have been having the same problem too. I did some research and found out it's a glitch with Internet Explorer. So if I don't make it around to visit you this weekend or if my links in my entries aren't working properly it's all Internet Explorer's fault! I hope this glitch is worked out soon, it's driving me crazy!

Here's my late entry for this week's True Colors - this week's color is cobalt blue. This is also my early entry for Shadow Shots for this weekend ...

Color Carnival

.
I'm posting another art banner this week from the Embracing Our Differences art display where there is always lots of color!
.
This is my entry for this week's Color Carnival. Come on over to play along with us if you haven't already - it's fun! :-)
.

I'm really pushing it with the combos!

This is my entry for Carmi's Thematic Photographic, the theme is single. It's also my entry for Watery Wednesday, my entry for ABC Wednesday, the letter for this week is S - S is for single, silent, and sunset. What the heck, I may as well make it my early entry for Skywatch too!

See, I told you I was really pushing it on the combos this week!

Sorry, I know it's kind of cheating, but be nice and just consider me efficient during these times when life gets in the way of my blogging! :-)

Ruby Tuesday

This is a simple yet very cool piece of art located in front of the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota Florida.

Happy Anniversary Ruby Tuesday!

Say good-bye to summertime!

The Summertime Sunday photo meme that is - it is hereby discontinued. This was one my son wanted me to host for him until he could get his blog up and running. It appears he's already lost interest - and summer hasn't even arrived yet! I should have known.

I hope you'll stop by and visit those who have played along and supported what I thought was my little future blogger. I really appreciate those who have played!

You can find the first two rounds HERE and HERE. Just click the Mister Linky on each to visit the players.

Now my youngest wants me to host a meme for him too. I suppose it's only fair, at least for another trial run, but we'll see what he comes up with first. I'll keep you posted! :-)

Mexican Sunflowers

I love my Mexican Sunflowers! I started this bush from a little 6 inch clipping last year, it's about 6 feet tall now. It has had no care from me since I stuck that little stem in the ground a year ago. This is my kind of landscape plant! How do you think it would look if I took clippings and lined my entire back fence? I'm thinking about doing just that this summer!

MellowYellowBadge

My favorite in the garden

Go see lots more at Today's Flowers and Lisa's Macro Monday :-)

Monochrome

Just wandering around after hours in places I don't belong - all just to find the right image. Hurry over to play along with the Monochrome Maniacs! :-)

Giant egg thingies!

I pulled these from the archives for this week's Shadow Shots #53 over at Hey Harreit. Go on over to see all the wonderful shadow shots from last week and to play along for this week!

Another combo

Since these two shots were taken at the same location (The New Pass Grill in Sarasota Florida), I decided to do another combo entry. The sign above is for Carmi's Thematic Photographic #50 where the theme this week is signs.

The photo below is for this week's Scenic Sunday #45. Head on over to play along on both great photo memes!

PhotoHunt 162 - Painted

This is a painted wall downtown in Venice Florida. It's a community project - pretty painted walls are popping up everywhere! I look forward to sharing more as I discover new ones that have been painted.

Go to the PhotoHunt to play along!

Letterboxing - a photo story

.
Here's my entry for the Community Photo Challenge...

"LETTERBOXING is an intriguing pastime combining navigational skills and rubber stamp artistry in a charming "treasure hunt" style outdoor quest. A wide variety of adventures can be found to suit all ages and experience levels."

Last year my daughter (in the photos above) introduced me to Letterboxing. We just happened to be going somewhere where a box was hidden - Historic Spanish Point in Osprey Florida.
.
It turned out to be a lot of fun! It felt almost risky being all sneaky and having lookouts to be sure nobody saw us. Of course we weren't doing a thing that would have got us in any kind of trouble, but it still held that kind of "not getting caught" excitement!
.
I haven't continued it after that day but I can definitely see why it's becoming a fast growing hobby! Go HERE to read about Letterboxing in North America or HERE for general info - join in the Letterboxing fun!

Wow, it's so big!

Now get your minds out of the gutter and go to the Thursday Challenge to see lots of other big stuff! :-)

Still catching up...

I came across a photo meme I didn't know about before - MY TRUE COLOURS. This week the theme is Turquoise. I immediately thought of the metal flowers the kids gave me. Turquoise is one one my favorite colors - all shades of blues and greens actually. Go on over to check out MY TRUE COLOURS and play along too!

Storms rolling in

This one was taken this afternoon at Nokomis Beach in Florida. It's my late entry for Watery Wednesday and my early entry for SkyWatch Friday - just trying to keep up! :-)

Just one more!

This one is for Carmi's Thematic Photographic 49 - Human

Kind of timeless don't you think?

Still catching up

Aren't they a cute bunch? These guys come to the school where I work every year to perform with our chorus. They usually stop in to sing for the office staff too. Not only are they cute, but they are so talented!

This one is a little late for this week's Ruby Tuesday!

EMPS #37

This week over at EMPS the theme is THEATERS! My shot was taken in downtown Sarasota Florida. It's the beautiful art deco Hollywood 20 Movie Theater. Go on over to EMPS #37 to see more great theaters! :-)

You asked for it, you got it!

Welcome to the Color Carnival photo meme!

I know I just started the new Summertime Sunday meme yesterday, but that one is really my son's and will probably be moving once his blog is set up. I've been thinking about doing a Color Carnival meme for a while now and just figured what the heck!

Today I posted this photo with the Monochrome Maniacs. Some wondered how it would look in color, it pushed me over the edge and diving into the Color Carnival meme I've been wanting to start.

So here it is, my first Color Carnival photo...

How will the Color Carnival work you ask? You know me, no big rules. I will normally be posting the new entry each weekend. Just take your own colorful shot (the more colorful the better!), post it on your blog and come back here to leave your link on Mister Linky to play along each week.
Note - I may also chose one or more participants photos to post with next week's entry. Please leave me a note if you'd rather I don't use yours, otherwise I'll assume I have your permission. Of course I will credit the photographer and link back to their post!
That's it! Please spread the word and play along!

This is so corny!

I'm so sorry. I couldn't resist this for Macro Monday. I guess it's not just my photo that's corny is it? You want to hurt me now don't you? LOL!

Go over to Lisa's Chaos to play along. I promise not everyone who plays is as corny as I am!

I crack myself up! :-)

Monochrome

Play along over at the Home of the Monochrome Maniacs!

PS - Don't forget to play along on my new weekly photo meme Summertime Sunday too!

Summertime Sunday #1

My son came up with a new photo meme today - Summertime Sunday! He even drew me the picture above to use for the meme. We'll just call it his meme that I'm hosting. Both boys are a bit excited about it now and may both start their own blogs and photo memes over summer break. Oh don't worry, I'll let you know if they do :-)
.
I know the first real day of summer is more than a month away, but being a school family we think of seasons in terms of our breaks - ours is coming quick, only 14 days of school left for the kids! Besides that, it's been hot and sunny here in Florida, it certainly feels like summer already!

It's time to get the new Summertime Sunday photo meme started! I haven't had time to get out for any new shots lately so I chose a shot from exactly one year ago today to post ...

Spread the word about Summertime Sunday!
.
You have all week long to post your summer shot! I'm not into rules so you can post just about anything - a sunrise, sunset, beach photos, any kind of summer fun in the sun, even a yummy summer meal would be great!
.
I'm trying out Mister Linky for the first time too. Please leave a comment including your link as well as adding your link on Mister Linky until I know for sure how Mister Linky is going to work. .
Now go get into the summer swing of things! Be creative and most importantly have fun! :-)
.

SSS #51

It's time for this week's shadow shots already over at Hey Harriet ...

This shadow shot is from the archives. It was taken at the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota Florida.
See you over at Hey Harriet for Shadow Shot Sunday - It's fun, it's addicting, come play along!

SSS

It's time for Shadow Shot Sunday #50 over at Hey Harriet. Here's my shot for this week...

This was taken in the hallway at the school where I work. Go over to Hey Harriet to see all the other shadow shots, and play along too - it's fun! :-)

The full set

I showed you a preview of my husband's first love in the previous entry. It's time to reveal the full set for the Round Robin Photo Challenge where the theme this week is See the Music!

Here it is in all it's glory - the full set! It's a regular set with an electronic set within the set up. I have no idea how he knows what he's doing behind this set, but then again I don't have a musical bone in my body. My husband isn't the only musician in the house though...

Here's our guitar and bass player. The little guy (the guitarist) also plays trombone, bass, piano and drums - and they both sing!
.
Go ahead and crank things up! - Head over to the Round Robin Photo Challenges to See the Music! :-)
