I've mentioned more than a few times that we have been doing some major renovations over these last few months. We were pretty excited that this weekend we were planning to finish the shower in the master bathroom which would complete the last of the big construction projects - that was until my husband walked in and found the kitchen and family room flooded.
Of course it's coming from under the floor beneath the kitchen island in the middle of the kitchen. Looks like it's time to start busting up the brand new travertine stone flooring, not to mention the damaged baseboards, drywall and possibly the cabinets. Want to know the best part? We let the homeowners insurance lapse. Way to go. We should have known Murphy was lurking around the corner just waiting for his chance.
It's a big mess, a huge disappointment, it's going to be costly, and I don't know that we'll have the money to do it after all we've already put into the renovations - but you know what? I'm sitting here with my husband and children this evening. We are all healthy, we have a roof over our heads, warm beds to sleep in, food on the table, and we're all here together to figure out what we'll do from here. I think about what's going on in Japan and I feel very lucky and very thankful. In the grand scheme of things what we're dealing with is small stuff.
